Description
Gypsum Studs – Gypsteel ULTRA® is made of special high-performance steel that undergoes stringent quality checks and controls to ensure correct and consistent base material for further profiling. The steel comes in rolled coils to maintain the proper thickness throughout its length. Quality checks ensure the accurate selection of material for strength and corrosion resistance. The steel sheet is work-hardened by passing it through a teethed roller with a patented design from Hadley, giving a typical unique knurling pattern on the surface. This knurling pattern is a key identifier of genuine Gypsteel ULTRA® from E Build.
About Gypsum Stud Metal Profile
Gypsum studs, also called metal studs, are made from cold-formed galvanised steel. They serve as vertical framing members within non-load-bearing and, in some cases, load-bearing partitions. Metal studs are typically “C-shaped” in profile, featuring a flat web in the centre with flanges on either side and sometimes lips for added stiffness. They come in a variety of sizes, typically ranging in width from 25mm (1 inch) to 150mm (6 inches) and in gauges from light-duty (25 gauge) to heavy-duty (16 gauge or thicker), allowing for customisation based on structural and design needs. Most recommended profile for a gypsum ceiling and drywall partitions
Key Characteristics of Gypsum Studs:
- Corrosion Resistance: Galvanized coatings protect the metal from rust, ensuring durability in humid or moisture-prone environments.
- Fire Resistance: Metal studs do not burn, making them ideal for fire-rated assemblies and safety-critical constructions.
- Lightweight and Easy Handling: They are significantly lighter than traditional wood studs, making transport and installation less labour-intensive.
- Straight and True: Unlike wood, metal studs are not susceptible to warping, twisting, or shrinking, ensuring a precise and stable framework.
- Multipurpose: They can accommodate a range of wall thicknesses, heights, and design configurations.
